Welcome to the World of Cardano and ADA!

This guide will help you go from having zero experience to holding ADA and trading Cardano native tokens. Follow these steps, and you’ll be ready to dive into the Quest Adventure world!

     Setting Up a Cardano Wallet

A wallet is where you store your ADA and Cardano native tokens. Below are three popular options:

Eternl Wallet

  • Pros: Highly customizable, supports multiple accounts, and includes advanced features like staking and native token trading.

  • Cons: May feel complex for beginners due to its extensive options.

  • Getting Started: Go to eternl.io, download the browser extension, and follow the setup prompts. Ensure you securely write down and back up your recovery phrase.

Yoroi Wallet

  • Pros: User-friendly, lightweight, works well for beginners, and has a mobile app.

  • Cons: Some advanced features may be missing, limited token support compared to other wallets.

  • Getting Started: Visit yoroi-wallet.com and download the browser extension or mobile app. Follow the steps to create a wallet and save your recovery phrase safely.

Lace Wallet

  • Pros: Developed by Cardano’s founding team (IOG), user-friendly, designed to integrate with the Cardano ecosystem.

  • Cons: Still relatively new, so some features may be added over time.

  • Getting Started: Go to lace.io and download the wallet. After setup, securely store your recovery phrase.

***Tip: Do some research before picking a wallet, these are only a few examples.

***Tip: Keep your recovery phrase safe! This phrase is the only way to access your wallet if you lose your device.

Purchasing ADA and Sending It to Your Wallet

Once you have a wallet, you’ll need ADA, the native currency of Cardano, to trade and interact with Cardano tokens.
Step-by-Step Guide to Buying ADA

  1. Choose an Exchange: Some beginner-friendly options are Coinbase, Binance, or Kraken. Create an account and go through any verification processes required.

  2. Deposit Funds: Most exchanges accept bank transfers or debit/credit card payments. Follow the instructions on your chosen exchange to deposit your local currency.

  3. Buy ADA: Search for ADA on the exchange. Choose the amount you want to buy and complete the purchase.

Sending ADA to Your Wallet

  1. Get Your Wallet Address: Open your Cardano wallet (e.g., Eternl, Yoroi, or Lace), go to the “Receive” section, and copy your wallet address.

  2. Send ADA from Exchange: On your exchange, go to your ADA balance and select the option to “Withdraw” or “Send.” Paste your wallet address and double-check it for accuracy, as blockchain transactions are irreversible.

  3. Confirm Transaction: Follow the prompts to complete the transfer. After a few minutes, you should see your ADA in your wallet!

***Tip: Start with a small test transfer to ensure everything is working correctly before sending a large amount.

    Trading Cardano Native Tokens

Now that you have ADA, you’re ready to trade Cardano native tokens!
Choosing a Decentralized Exchange (DEX)
DEXs let you trade ADA for Cardano native tokens without an intermediary. Some popular Cardano DEXs include Minswap, SundaeSwap, and WingRiders.

Step-by-Step Guide to Trading

  1. Connect Your Wallet to a DEX:

    • Open your chosen DEX, such as Minswap, and select “Connect Wallet.”

    • Choose your wallet (Eternl, Yoroi, or Lace) and follow the instructions to connect it securely.

  2. Choose Your Trading Pair:

    • Select ADA as the token you want to trade and your chosen Cardano native token (e.g., QSTG) as the one you want to receive.

  3. Enter Trade Details:

    • Enter the amount of ADA you want to trade. The DEX will show you the estimated amount of tokens you’ll receive.

  4. Confirm and Complete the Trade:

    • Review the transaction details carefully and confirm the trade. Once confirmed, your new tokens will appear in your wallet within a few minutes.

***Tip: Remember, each transaction requires a small fee paid in ADA, so keep a bit of extra ADA in your wallet.

*Summary of Steps to Start Owning and Trading ADA:

  1. Set Up a Cardano Wallet: Choose between Eternl, Yoroi, and Lace, based on your preferences for ease of use or advanced features.

  2. Purchase ADA: Use a trusted exchange like Coinbase, Binance, or Kraken.

  3. Send ADA to Your Wallet: Copy your wallet’s address and transfer ADA from the exchange.

  4. Trade Cardano Native Tokens: Connect your wallet to a DEX and trade ADA for the tokens you want.
